NATO says its Afghanistan forces killed at least 30 Taliban fighters who attempted an outpost of combat under cover of darkness of the storm.

The attack occurred on a basis in the Paktika province, bordering Pakistan.

The activists are reported attacked from all directions, using guns and rockets.

Five coalition soldiers were wounded in the fighting, which was so fierce that soldiers from the camp had to call in air strikes to repel aggression.

A statement of the International Security Assistance Force (sailing) said that none of his troops had been tués.La most soldiers in the area are some United States.

BBC Quentin Sommerville in Kabul, says that combat outposts are often small, remote databases and target frequent attacks planned using rockets and mortars.

Local commanders say that many insurgents in the region come mainly from the border in Pakistan, our correspondent adds.
