Nascar Driver Sues ExtenZe

December 10, 2010, 6:32 pm

Robby Gordon, the Nascar car owner and driver, has filed a $690,000 lawsuit against ExtenZe, formerly a sponsor of Gordon’s Sprint Cup team, claiming that the maker of male enhancement pills did not adhere to the terms of their sponsorship agreement.

According to Autoweek, Gordon:

alleges that he put the product’s logo on his No. 7 Sprint Cup Toyota but that ExtenZe has not paid him for the exposure. He alleges that ExtenZe agreed to pay if rookie Kevin Conway drove the car and then agreed that Gordon could replace Conway in a handful of late-season races. After those races, Gordon alleges, ExtenZe refused to pay, citing breach of contract because he replaced Conway in the car.

Gordon, a veteran of several different racing series, has competed in the Dakar Rally and Baja 1000 and is one of only three drivers to race in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in the same day. ExtenZe is perhaps best known for hiring the former Dallas Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson as its spokesman.

Interestingly enough, this is not the only legal wrangling Gordon is involved in these days. Yahoo Sports reports that Gordon’s new energy drink, Speed, has redrawn its logo to avoid potential trademark infringement.

To which we ask: Robby Gordon needs an energy drink?
